Baun started playing badminton since she was 7 years old. She played at Lynge, a small club in North Zealand, Denmark. She said she really liked traveling around the world and learning other cultures through sports. Baun made her international debut in 1996 at the Denmark Open, and since finishing her last education in 1999, she started playing full time in badminton.
