History

Strang was surveyed in 1913 by the Missouri, Oklahoma and Gulf Railway (later the

), who were building tracks towards Wagoner. A post office was also established in 1913, replacing the nearby Lynch post office, and the town was incorporated in 1921. It was named for Clarita Strang Kenefic, wife of railroad developer William Kenefic.
