History

SAP announced SAP Business ByDesign on 19 September 2007 during an event in New York. It was previously known under the code name "A1S". Since its initial and general available release in 2007 (so-called feature pack 1.2) it has been enhanced in quarterly releases. By 2022 it was announced that SAP intended to terminate SAP Business ByDesign. SAP officially denied this rumor and published an announcement in December, 2022, to partners including this quote: "SAP Business ByDesign is a globally recognized cloud ERP software solution available to the market - without an expiry date. It can be purchased and implemented by SAP or through our partners"
