On 5 March at Hanshin, Reve d'Essor made her debut in the 1600 metres Tulip Sho, a race which serves as a trial for the

, which is run in early April and is the traditional start to the annual classic races for three-year-olds in Japan. Starting at odds of 1/10 she was restrained as usual in the early stages before taking the lead in the straight and drawing away to win by easily four lengths from Rice Terrace. Later that month the filly sustained a leg injury in training and was off the track until autumn. After an absence of months six months Reve d'Essor returned at Kyoto in November to contest the
