met P. S. Ramakrishna Rao, an assistant director of that film. She was impressed by his work ethic. She fell in love with him. Bhanumathi married him against her parent's wish. The couple married on 8 August 1943 and have one son, Bharani. Before marriage the first condition he put forth was that she quit acting;
