"The pupils at the Norwegian School in Kobe, Japan, are about as far from Norway as you can come. In addition, most of them are also far from their own homes in Japan and have to live at the boarding school — which has grown steadily since first organized in 1950. History

The school first opened in 1950. Its boarding facility's population grew after the school opened, and as of 1983 most students stayed in a boarding facility. In 1983 the school had 37 students. The school moved to
