Racing career

Oestreich began his career in 1985 in Formula Ford 2000 Germany, he finished 7th in the championship standings that year. Later he switched to the
Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft The Deutsche Tourenwagen Meisterschaft (DTM) was a touring car racing series held from 1984 to 1996. Originally based in Germany, it held additional rounds elsewhere in Europe and later worldwide. The original DTM had resumed racing with produc ...
, he raced in the championship for several years, ending the 1988 season 4th in the championship standings. From 1985–1987 he raced in the German Formula 3 championship. In 1986 he switched to the
