The idea of a street circuit for Madrid, independent of the Jarama circuit, dates back to 2014, when it was presented to

The circuit, even in its preliminary design phases, has not been without neighborhood controversy over the noise levels that can be reached in neighborhoods near the track, and the disturbances that these types of events typically generate, especially considering its semi-urban layout.
