. Once completed, this line would form the
loop line of the
Klang Valley Integrated Transit System. The director of this project is currently Tuan Haji Mohd Yusof Kasiron. The circle line will be numbered 13 and coloured blue violet on official transit maps.
Before 4 July 2024, the circle line was coloured grey on its official alignment map.
It is one of three planned mass rapid transit (MRT) rail lines under the
Klang Valley Mass Rapid Transit Project by

Mohd Zarif Hashim addressed the importance of land public transport in the development and sustainability of a city in a City Expo Malaysia (CEM) Star Talk session. In his speech, he stated that the MRT Circle Line would complete the transport masterplan for Klang Valley, connecting the eight different radial lines and delivering passengers in a more efficient manner. He also said that MRT Corp will be sharing information regarding the line at the CEM virtual expo, the expo is said to be held between November and December of that year.

MRT Corp CEO Datuk Mohd Zarif Hashim said that the line will have a circular alignment running along the perimeter of Kuala Lumpur at about in length, split between of elevated tracks and of underground tunnels. , who also serves as the Finance Minister, announced the government's intention to reevaluate the expenses associated with the MRT3 project with the aim of lowering the total cost to less than RM45 billion, while MRT Corp informed the bidders that the deadline for their job tenders related to MRT3 had been extended till the end of 2023.
* 2 September 2024 - MRT Corp begins the public inspection exercise of MRT3 Circle Line, which lasted for a period of three months until 2 December 2024. There's a microsite within MRT Corp website detailing the alignment and station features. Info kiosks were also set up in several MRT stations and info trucks were dispatched to key sites along the alignment during the public inspection period.
Network
On the morning of 4 July 2024, the infographic alignment map on MRT Corp official website was updated to show its new purple colour scheme, but did not include Mont Kiara station on its alignment.
There will be a total of 32 stations (25 elevated + 7 underground), 3 of which are provisional stations. It will also be served by 2 depots. All of the station names are interim and subject to change.
