Originally a branch line of the M3 (Olimpiyat - İkitelli Sanayi), it was later was unified with the M9 line, with the first stage of the metro line (Bahariye - İkitelli Sanayi) being completed and opened on 29 May 2021. The M9 originally operated between Bahariye and Olimpiyat, and later extending to Ataköy in 18 March 2024. Mimar Sinan station was opened on 30 August 2024.
