History

Krokhmalne was founded in 1759. In February 2022, during the
Russian invasion of Ukraine On 24 February 2022, , starting the largest and deadliest war in Europe since World War II, in a major escalation of the Russo-Ukrainian War, conflict between the two countries which began in 2014. The fighting has caused hundreds of thou ...
, the village was occupied by the

. In autumn of the same year, during the counteroffensive of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in Kharkiv Oblast, the village was returned under Ukrainian control. In January 2024 the village was taken under control by Russian forces for the second time, after a failed Ukrainian counter-offensive.
