Kharkiv Oblast
Kharkiv Oblast (, ), also referred to as Kharkivshchyna (), is an oblast (province) in eastern Ukraine. Kharkiv borders Luhansk Oblast to the east, Donetsk Oblast to the southeast, Dnipropetrovsk Oblast to the southwest, Poltava Oblast to the west, Sumy Oblast to the northwest and Russia's Belgorod Oblast to the north. Its area is , or 5.2% of the total territory of Ukraine. The oblast is the third-most populous of Ukraine, with a population of 2,598,961 in 2021, more than half (1.42 million) of whom live in the city of Kharkiv, the oblast's administrative center. Nomenclature Most of Ukraine's oblasts are named after their capital cities, officially called "oblast centers" (, translit. ''oblasnyi tsentr''). Kharkiv Oblast Council
The Kharkiv Oblast Council () is the regional oblast council (parliament) of the Kharkiv Oblast (province) located in eastern Ukraine. The council is composed of 120 members and is situated in the oblast's administrative center Kharkiv. Council members are elected for five year terms. In order to gain representation on the council, a party must gain more than 5 percent of the total vote. On 1 March 2022, during the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the building was bombed in a missile strike. According to the Council, 29 people were killed. Donetsk Oblast
Donetsk Oblast, also referred to as Donechchyna (, ), is an Oblasts of Ukraine, oblast in eastern Ukraine. It is Ukraine's most populous province, with around 4.1 million residents. Its capital city, administrative centre is Donetsk, though due to the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian War, the regional administration was moved to Kramatorsk. Historically, the region has been an important part of the Donbas region. From its creation in 1938 until November 1961, it bore the name ''Stalino Oblast'', in honour of Joseph Stalin. Luhansk Oblast (; ), also referred to as Luhanshchyna (), is the easternmost Administrative divisions of Ukraine, oblast (province) of Ukraine. Its administrative center is the city of Luhansk. The oblast was established in 1938 and bore the name ''Voroshilovgrad Oblast'' until 1958 and again from 1970 to 1991. The Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics (Nomenclature of Territorial Units for Statistics, NUTS) is a geocode standardization, standard for referencing the country subdivision, subdivisions of Ukraine for statistical purposes.
