Prior use of 1400 kHz

Casper's third radio station,
KATI KATI (94.3 FM), branded as 94.3 KAT Country, is a radio station which broadcasts country music and St. Louis Cardinals baseball. Licensed to California, Missouri, the station serves the Jefferson City Jefferson City, informally Jeff City, ...
, operated on 1400 kHz from 1956 to 1987. At sign on, the station was to be known as KTOO, but when it was purchased in 1956, the calls were changed to KATI. For most of its early years, the station carried a "popular music" format. KATI upgraded from 250 watts to 1,000 watts in 1959. The station was known as "Casper's Favorite Gal". It was sold in 1963 to Casper Family Radio Inc. and again later to Mod-com Broadcasting. The debut of a new station

KKTL

The 1400 AM frequency would be back in business in 1999 with talk radio and sports radio, with the playing of the national anthem. On February 12, 2018, KKTL changed their format from ESPN sports to classic country, branded as "AM 1400 The Cowboy". KKTL and its sister KTWO both signed on translators on FM in early 2022.
