In February a share in the horse's ownership was acquired by Masaaki Matsushima. The flat racing season in Britain and Ireland was disrupted by the COVID-19 outbreak and Japan did not make his reappearance until 17 June when he contested the Prince of Wales's Stakes which was run behind closed doors at Royal Ascot.
