Hovig was the first non-American to receive the International Association of Culinary Professionals' Lifetime Achievement Award. In 1986 she received the Norwegian award Kringkastingsprisen and in 1994 she was awarded Knight, First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav.
