was absent from the recording of the single, resulting in Abeyratne taking over the lead. In an interview with '' The Herald Sun'', Ceberano remembers that missing those sessions, "will always be a thorn in my side." Lead guitarist and composer, Robert Goodge advising that "Up until then Zan had resisted being a full time member, I guess we wanted to reward her as being part of the band and for all the work she'd done." In a 2009 interview Ceberano discussed how the introduction of Abeyratne as a co-lead singer instantly put her "nose went out of joint but I never felt like I was in a position to say so, because it would’ve felt like I was having a diva spat. To add insult to injury, (1986 hit) 'Holy Word' was given to her, when that was gonna be my fucking song – that was gonna be my hit!" Subsequently Ceberano in her autobiography, ''I'm Talking: My Life, My Words, My Music'' (2014), recalls "...the boys wrote a song especially for Zan. It was 'Holy Word'. As soon as I heard it, I knew it was going to be big. I didn't think she deserved it. As far as I was concerned, she had come between the rest of us and had been rewarded with a hit single." On the other hand, Abeyratne says "It was awesome for me to get to sing that song... It was a special song for me. It came out and we got whisked off overseas so I didn't get to fully experience it all."
