Fiennes was born Frederick Benjamin Twisleton on 4 July 1799, a son of

He succeeded a cousin to the title of
Baron Saye and Sele in 1847 and legally changed his surname to
Twisleton-Wykeham-Fiennes in 1849, although the name is frequently shortened to Fiennes. As Baron Saye and Sele, he arranged restoration work on the family home of
Broughton Castle but the house had to be let to tenants from 1885.
He died on 25 May 1887.
