Yagna, but fierce opposition by his opponents (Most notable of whom were the Rajas of Cochin) forced the Namboothiris of Malabar to abandon the plan. Instead, the Samoothiri was elevated to the Samanthan Nair caste by performing the Padmagarbha Yagna.
