Coaching career

In late January 2010, Brescia appointed Filippini as assistant coach of the ''Giovanissimi Nazionali'' youth team guided by Omar Danesi. On 25 June 2012, it was announced that both brothers would join lowly FeralpiSalò as youth system coordinators. In July 2012, he was awarded the

in 2012. He subsequently served as Kenya U20 head coach for a short time in 2013. In February 2016 he took over as head coach of
