Nissim was born in Israel in 1933.
In 1957, he graduated with a B.Sc. from the

Technion since 1958, where he has been a full professor since 1978. He was Head of the Department of Aeronautical Engineering from 1971-73, and from 1978-80, Technion's Vice President for Academic Affairs and Senior Vice President from 1983 to 1986, and its
Sidney Goldstein Professor in Aeronautical Engineering from 1989 to 1998.
He served as President of the
Open University of Israel
