. It was opened in 2004 as a subsidiary of Cavendish College London and is the first private university to operate in Zambia. The university is registered with the Higher Education Authority which is a grant aided institution established under the Higher Education Act No. 4 of 2013. Cavendish is also affiliated with the Association of African Universities (AAU). Its sister University is Cavendish University Uganda. The University is now run by Maarifa Education Trust which also runs a dozen of Universities around the world following the liquidation of Cavendish College London.

2024 Jessup Moot Court National Rounds

Cavendish University Zambia Law School won the 2024 Jessup Moot Court national rounds held from the 9th -11th February 2024 at the CUZ Long acres Campus.beating University of Zambia Law School, University of Lusaka and Copperbelt University. The University represented Zambia in at the Jessup White & Case International Rounds to held from 30th March to 6th April 2024 at Hyatt Regency on Capitol Hill Washington DC USA.
