The original Barnoldswick Town joined the
Lancashire Combination
The Lancashire Combination was a football league founded in the North West of England in 1891–92. It absorbed the Lancashire League in 1903. In 1968 the Combination lost five of its clubs to the newly formed Northern Premier League. In 1982 it ...
in 1924. After finishing bottom of the league in 1932–33 and 1933–34, they left the league. They joined the
Yorkshire League in 1935, but left after a single season, and subsequently folded.
The modern club was established in 1972 as Barnoldswick United (1972),
