Zioness Movement

In 2017, Berman and Brooke Goldstein, the director of the Lawfare Project, set up Zioness with the intention of creating a liberal Zionist feminist movement as an offshoot of the Lawfare Project. The group was set up to promote the participation of Pro-Israeli voices in the 2017

Chicago that had advertised itself as an Anti-Zionist event. Though the Lawfare Project intended to disguise their involvement in the group, and Berman initially denied any connection, in a trademark dispute case in 2024 Berman stated the group was "definitely a project of the Lawfare Project". Berman circulated information on how to join the Zioness group's actions at the Slutwalk from Lawfare Project accounts, where participants displayed symbols incorporating the Star of David. The event organisers denounced the Zioness initiative for using the march to promote a “nationalist agenda.” Prior to setting up Zioness Berman did not have a background in progressive advocacy telling the Forward: I don’t know that I have that kind of experience." Despite this, Berman has expressed the view that it is possible to be both Zionist and politically progressive. She describes Zionism as a progressive
