He had a strong start to the 2021 AMA National Motocross Championship, with a third overall at the opening round. This result was repeated at round four, however he missed the final part of the season due to injury. For 2022, Plessinger signed a two-year deal with the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team. He made a strong start to the 2022 AMA Supercross Championship, with a second place at round two. However, a practice crash before round eight ruled him out of the rest of the supercross season with a broken arm.
