The Union finished the 2017 season with the same points total as the 2016 season, but did not clinch entry to the MLS Cup Playoffs. The 2017 season also marks a new goalscoring record by C. J. Sapong who scored 16 goals in a single season, eclipsing Sebastian Le Toux's record of 14 goals during the inaugural season.
