The only first quarter score would be a Rob Bironas field goal that gave the Titans a 3–nothing lead. At the close of the first half, Tennessee was leading the defending NFC winner 6–3, but an extended play with 5 seconds left on Arizona's 20 or so, would diminish Tennessee's chance for a field goal. Tennessee scored the first touchdown during the second half to take a 13–3 lead, but Arizona scored 14 straight points with the help of Lerod Stevens-Howling returning a kickoff for a touchdown.
