The Sievers family is a prominent Baltic-German noble family that also belonged to the Russian nobility. Kay Sievers is a German computer programmer, best known for developing the udev device manager of Linux, systemd and the Gummiboot EFI bootloader. Kay Sievers made major contributions to Linux's hardware hotplug and device management subsystems. In 2012, together with Harald Hoyer, Sievers was the main driving force behind Fedora's merging of the /lib, /bin and /sbin file-system trees into /usr, a simplification which other distributions such as Arch Linux have since adopted. In April 2014, Linus Torvalds banned Sievers from submitting patches to the Linux kernel for failing to deal with bugs that caused systemd to negatively interact with the kernel. Todd Michael Sievers (born April 1, 1980) is an American former professional football player who was a placekicker. He played college football for the Miami Hurricanes from 1998 to 2002, being part of the 2001 Division I-A National Championship team. He also played for the Houston Texans of the National Football League (NFL) during the 2003 and 2004 offseasons. High school career Sievers played at Ankeny High School in Ankeny, Iowa, serving as the team's kicker and punter. He set state records with a 63-yard field goal, as well as in scoring with 77 points. Thadeus Von Sievers
Thadeus Ferdinand Ludwig von Sivers (, tr. ; ?), always falsely referred to as Thadeus von Sievers, was a Baltic German general who served in the Imperial Russian Army. Sievers was most notable for his role in the Invasion of East Prussia during the initial stage of World War I, in which he commanded the 10th Army against the Germans and succeeded in taking the East Prussian towns of Stallupönen (now Nesterov, Russia) and Goldap (now Poland) in October 1914. Further major successes for the Russian Army in East Prussia failed to materialize. In the Second Battle of the Masurian Lakes in February 1915, the 10th Army commanded by Sivers, was largely destroyed. After the defeat, Sivers was ousted as Commander of the Army, even though he had been among those who had been warned beforehand of the unfavorable strategic situation that had arisen. Teresa Sievers
On June 28, 2015, 46-year-old Teresa Sievers was murdered at her home in Bonita Springs, Florida. Two men bludgeoned her to death with a hammer, striking her seventeen times. Police arrested Curtis Wayne Wright Jr. and Jimmy Ray Rodgers, both from Missouri, for the crime. In December 2015, Teresa's husband, Mark Sievers, was arrested and accused of masterminding the murder. The motive was life insurance money and the fear that Teresa would take their children away. All three men were found guilty. Wright received a twenty-five-year sentence, Rodgers was sentenced to life in prison, and Mark Sievers was sentenced to death. Ralf Sievers (born 30 October 1961) is a German former professional footballer who played as a midfielder, most notably with Eintracht Frankfurt. Peter von Sivers (, Pyotr Ivanovich Sivers; 1674 – 1740), more commonly known falsely as Peter von Sievers, was a Holy Roman Empire, German Admiral of the Imperial Russian Navy. Career Sivers belonged to the Sivers family (:de:Sivers (Adelsgeschlecht), de), originated from Fehmarm. His family moved to Copenhagen, where his father entered the Danish Navy as a captain, shortly after his birth. in 1688 Sivers joined the Danish Navy too and by 1703 he was promoted to the rank of lieutenant. The following year he joined the Russian Navy with the rank of captain in order to assist in the building and modernization of the Russian fleet spearheaded by Emperor Peter the Great.
