The Filthy Tongues
The Filthy Tongues are an alternative rock group from Edinburgh, Scotland, made up of Martin Metcalfe, Fin Wilson and Derek Kelly, who were previously members of Goodbye Mr Mackenzie and Angelfish alongside Shirley Manson. As Isa & the Filthy Tongues with singer Stacey Chavis, the band released two albums. Isa & the Filthy Tongues An earlier incarnation of the band, Isa & The Filthy Tongues, featured American singer-songwriter Stacey Chavis on lead vocals. Their first albums, ''Addiction'' was released on Circular Records in May 2006. It was re-released in 2009. ''Dark Passenger'' came out through Neon Tetra Records in 2010. ''Scotland on Sunday'' compared Metcalfe's performance on "Beautiful Girl" to the Sensational Alex Harvey Band. ''New Town Killers'' is a British drama film written and directed by Richard Jobson, starring James Anthony Pearson and Dougray Scott. ''Burning Cities'' is the fifth studio album by Scottish punk rock and new wave band Skids, released on 12 January 2018. Produced by Killing Joke bassist Youth, this is the band's first studio album in 36 years, since the release of '' Joy'' in November 1981. It is their first album to feature Big Country father-and-son guitarists, Bruce and Jamie Watson, the second with drummer Mike Baillie, and third with founding bassist William Simpson. Skids (band)
Skids are a Scottish punk rock and new wave band, formed in Dunfermline in 1977 by Stuart Adamson (guitar, keyboards, percussion and backing vocals), William Simpson (bass guitar and backing vocals), Thomas Kellichan (drums) and Richard Jobson (vocals, guitar and keyboards). Their biggest successes were the 1979 single " Into the Valley" and the 1980 album '' The Absolute Game.'' In 2016, the band announced a 40th-anniversary tour of the UK with their original singer Richard Jobson. History Early years (1977–1979) Skids played their first gig on 19 August 1977 at the Bellville Hotel in Pilmuir Street, Dunfermline, Scotland. ''Jacob's Ladder'' is the first album from the Scottish group the Filthy Tongues and was self-released in 2016 by the band on their own label Blokshok Records, in association with Neon Tetra. The album follows ''Addiction'' and ''Dark Passenger'', two records recorded by an earlier incarnation of the band known as Isa & the Filthy Tongues, as well as following the albums released by the members earlier major label bands Goodbye Mr Mackenzie and Angelfish. Inspired by the dark stories of the band's Edinburgh base, as well as the vignette-based approach to the lyrics of the Garbage song "Bleed Like Me", ''Jacob's Ladder'' received much praise from the Scottish and wider music press. Paul Hullah
Paul William Hullah is an English writer who has published several volumes of poetry, short stories, and literary criticism, as well as a series of literature-based EFL textbooks for university students in Japan and articles in several academic journals in the field of EFL. He was co-editor of the 1997 authorized international edition of the collected poetry of the major novelist Dame Iris Murdoch. He had also co-edited, in 1996, ''Playback and talk show: new Edinburgh crimes'', by Ian Rankin, the first book of Inspector Rebus stories to be published in Japan.
