Don Rosa
Keno Don Hugo Rosa (), known as Don Rosa (born June 29, 1951), is an American comic book writer and illustrator known for his comics about Scrooge McDuck and other Disney comics, Disney characters. Many of his stories are built on characters and locations created by Carl Barks. Rosa created about 90 stories between 1987 and 2006, and in 1995 his 12-chapter work ''The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck'' won the Eisner Award for Best Serialized Story. Early life Don Rosa was born Keno Don Hugo Rosa on June 29, 1951, in Louisville, Kentucky. Rosa's older sister was an avid collector of comics and exposed Don to comics as a storytelling medium at a very early age, teaching him to "read the pictures." Growing up his favorite comics were ''Uncle Scrooge'' and ''Little Lulu'', as well as his sister's collection of MAD magazines. Duck Family (Disney)
The Duck family is a fictional family of cartoon ducks related to Disney character Donald Duck. The family is also related to the Coot, Goose, and Gander families, as well as the Scottish Clan McDuck. Besides Donald, the best-known members of the Duck family are Huey, Dewey, and Louie, Donald's triplet nephews. Members of the Duck family appear most extensively in Donald Duck comics (although some have made animated appearances). In 1993, American comics author Don Rosa published a ''Duck Family Tree'' that established the characters' relationships in his stories. He also created a fictional timeline for when certain characters were born (All birth/death dates given below are Rosa's). ''The Carl Barks Library'' (''CBL'') is a series of 30 large hardcover books reprinting all of the Disney comics stories and covers written and/or drawn by Carl Barks. Stories that were modified in the original publication, sometimes for production reasons and sometimes due to excessive editing, were restored in CBL to Barks' original intent. The books are collected in ten slipcase volumes with three books in each, a total of about 7,400 pages. The volumes were published from 1983 to 1990 in the United States by Another Rainbow Publishing under license from The Walt Disney Company. The comics were printed (with a few exceptions) in black and white. In addition to the comics, there are numerous articles with background information. Carl Barks (March 27, 1901 – August 25, 2000) was an American cartoonist, author, and painter. He is best known for his work in Disney comics, Disney comic books, as the writer and artist of the first Donald Duck stories and as the creator of Scrooge McDuck. He worked anonymously until late in his career; fans dubbed him "The Duck Man" and "The Good Duck Artist". In 1987, Barks was one of the three inaugural inductees of the List of Eisner Award winners#The Will Eisner Award Hall of Fame, Will Eisner Comic Book Hall of Fame. ''The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck'' (''Lo'') 12-part comic book storyline written and drawn by Don Rosa, lettered by Todd Klein (American editions), first published by the Danish publisher Egmont in the magazine '' Anders And & Co.'' from 1992–94 and later in English in ''Uncle Scrooge'' #285 through #296 (1994–96). The Old Castle's Secret
"The Old Castle's Secret" is a 32-page Disney comics adventure/mystery/horror story written, drawn, and lettered by Carl Barks. It was first published by Dell Publishing in ''Four Color'' #189 (June 1948). Characters include Scrooge McDuck, Donald Duck, and his three nephews. The story is about a treasure hunt led by Uncle Scrooge through an old castle in Scotland. This is the first of Uncle Scrooge's comic book treasure hunts, and the cover is Barks' first. The story has been reprinted many times. Plot Scrooge McDuck, in his second appearance, recruits his nephews to search for a family treasure back in Dismal Downs, the old castle of Clan McDuck, built in the middle of a swamp in Scotland.
