The Calling is an American Rock music, rock band from Los Angeles, California, formed in 1996 by lead singer and guitarist Alex Band and guitarist Aaron Kamin. They are best known for their 2001 single "Wherever You Will Go," which topped the Adult Top 40 for 23 weeks—making it the Smooth (Santana song), second longest running number one in the chart's history—and was later named the number one song of the 2000s on ''Billboard''s Adult Pop Songs chart. It served as lead single for their debut studio album ''Camino Palmero'' (2001), which was met with commercial success despite unfavorable critical reception.
