Train (band)
Train is an American pop rock band from San Francisco that formed in 1993. As of 2025, the band consists of Pat Monahan (lead vocals), Taylor Locke (guitar, vocals), Hector Maldonado (bass, vocals), Jerry Becker (keyboards, guitar), and Matt Musty (drums). The band has had many lineup changes, with Monahan serving as the sole constant and sole original founding member. With a lineup that included original members Monahan, Rob Hotchkiss, Jimmy Stafford, Scott Underwood, and Charlie Colin, the band achieved mainstream success with its debut album, ''Train''. The album was released in 1998 with the hit " Meet Virginia". Train's 2001 album '' Drops of Jupiter'' contained the lead single—the RIAA 9× platinum-certified international hit " Drops of Jupiter (Tell Me)". The single won two Grammy Awards in 2002, and the album was certified double platinum. Pat Monahan
Patrick Monahan (born February 28, 1969) is an American musician. He is best known as the lead singer and sole constant member of the band Train. He has also collaborated with multiple artists and has recorded a solo album, '' Last of Seven''. Early life Monahan was born and raised in Erie, Pennsylvania. He is the son of Jack Monahan, a clothing store owner and musician, and Patricia Ann (née Timon) Monahan. Of Irish descent, he is the youngest of seven children and became an uncle at five. He attended McDowell High School in Millcreek Township. Monahan attended the Edinboro University of Pennsylvania in Edinboro, Pennsylvania. Career Monahan began his musical career singing with cover band Rogues Gallery from 1988 to 1990. Lead Single
A lead single (or first single) is the first single to be released from a studio album by an artist or a band, usually before the album itself is released and also occasionally on the same day of the album's release date. ''For Me, It's You'' is the fourth studio album by American band Train (band), Train, released through Columbia Records on January 31, 2006. It was Train's last album to be recorded as a five-piece until 2014's ''Bulletproof Picasso'' and is their only album to feature keyboardist Brandon Bush and bassist Johnny Colt. ''My Private Nation'' is the third studio album by American pop rock band Train. It was released June 3, 2003. The album was reissued February 8, 2005, as a CD+DVD dual disc set. The album is certified Platinum in the US. It is Train's last album to feature bassist Charlie Colin and rhythm guitarist Rob Hotchkiss, who both left in 2003.
