Francesco Saverio Nitti
Francesco Saverio Vincenzo de Paola Nitti (; 19 July 1868 – 20 February 1953) was an Italian economist and statesman. A member of the Italian Radical Party, Nitti served as Prime Minister of Italy between 1919 and 1920. An opponent of the fascist regime in Italy, he opposed any kind of dictatorship throughout his career. According to the '' Catholic Encyclopedia'' in "Theories of Overpopulation", Nitti was also a staunch critic of English economist Thomas Robert Malthus and his ''Principle of Population''; Nitti wrote ''Population and the Social System'' (1894). He was an important meridionalist and studied the origins of Southern Italian problems that arose after Italian unification. Career Born in Melfi, Basilicata, Nitti studied law in Naples and was subsequently active as journalist. Royal Italian Army
The Royal Italian Army () (RE) was the land force of the Kingdom of Italy, established with the proclamation of the Kingdom of Italy. During the 19th century Italy started to unify into one country, and in 1861 Manfredo Fanti signed a decree creating the Army of the Two Sicilies. This newly created army's first task was to defend its territorial gains against Legitimists in southern Italy, who remained loyal to Francis II of the Two Sicilies. The Army of the Two Sicilies also waged what many modern historians now consider a civil war against outlaws and Bourbonist guerrillas, such as the famous Michelina Di Cesare, and against other Italian states' armies during the continuing wars of unification. Giovanni Sechi
Giovanni Sechi (Sassari, 1861 - Rome, 1948) was an Italian admiral and politician. Naval career Sechi graduated from the Italian Naval Academy in 1883. Between 1903 and 1906, as a lieutenant and professor at the Naval Academy, Sechi published a two-volume work entitled ''Elementi di Arte Militari Marittima'', a thesis on naval strategy and doctrine. It outlined the importance of strategy, in contrast to the established Italian emphasis on naval battle tactics. He also made an ultimately successful case for Italy to invest in fast dreadnoughts. He took part as an officer in the Italo-Turkish War and in the First World War. Made a rear admiral in 1918, he was promoted to reserve vice admiral in 1923 and then squadron admiral in 1926. Giulio Rodinò di Miglione (Naples 10 January 1875 – Naples, 16 February 1946) was an Italian politician. He was among the founders of the Italian People's Party (PPI) and of the Christian Democracy. Early life and career He was the second son of Giovan Francesco Rodinò, baron of Miglione, gentleman of the chamber of King Ferdinand II of the Two Sicilies and Giuseppina Sanseverino, daughter of Luigi Sanseverino, prince of Bisignano. Carlo Schanzer
Carlo Schanzer (18 December 1865 – 23 October 1953) was a Vienna-born Italian jurist and politician. He held several cabinet posts from 1906 to 1922. Early life and education Schanzer was born in Vienna on 18 December 1865. His father was a Polish-born business lawyer, and his mother was a pianist. Schanzer had three siblings. His brother Ottone was a librettist and the other, Roberto, was an engineer and mathematician while his sister, Alice, married Tancredi Galimberti, a well-known poet and writer. In the 1870s the family moved to Milan and then to Rome. After graduating from a high school in Rome Schanze received a bachelor's degree in law in November 1886.
