Rally-raid
Rally raid is a type of off-road motorsport event competed with different types of vehicles. Along with shorter baja rallies, rally raid constitutes cross-country rallying. Both the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) and Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) co-organise a common World Rally-Raid Championship featuring the same events and types of vehicles. The length of a rally raid can be as short as 2–3 days to as long as 15 days with marathon rally raids like the Dakar Rally. With skill in navigation being key, the driving skill and endurance of riders, drivers, co-drivers, and machines are put to the test. The total distance covered can be between 600 km to over 5,000 km with terrain ranging from sandy dunes, forest roads, mountain roads, and dry river beds; among others. World Rally-Raid Championship
The World Rally-Raid Championship (officially abbreviated as W2RC) is a rally raid series co-sanctioned by the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile, FIA and Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme, FIM and promoted by the Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO). The championship's seasons culminate with world championship titles in both automobile and motorcycle categories. Beginning in 2022, the series replaced both the FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies and FIM Cross-Country Rallies World Championship as the top echelon of the sport of rally raid. Baja (cross-country Rally)
A baja, or baja rally, is a motorsport event conducted using various types of vehicles. Along with the similar Rally raid, rally raids and marathon rally raids, the three event types are collectively considered as types of Cross-country rally, cross-country rallies by the international governing body for automobile sport, the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA). In motorcycle sport, the Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme (FIM) define baja as events featuring racing, however in practice, FIM motorcycle bajas are run similarly to other cross-country rallies. An unaffiliated motorcycle sport organisation, Baja Rally LLC, owns the "Baja Rally" trademark and organises a series of three events in Mexico without recognising any other sporting authority. Rallying is a wide-ranging form of motorsport with various competitive motoring elements such as speed tests (sometimes called "rally racing" in United States), navigation tests, or the ability to reach waypoints or a destination at a prescribed time or average speed. Rallies may be short in the form of trials at a single venue, or several thousand miles long in an extreme endurance rally. Depending on the format, rallies may be organised on private or public roads, open or closed to traffic, or off-road in the form of cross country or rally-raid. Silk Way Rally
The Silk Way Rally () is an annual rally raid held in Russia and neighbouring countries. The first Silk Way Rally was run in 2009 from Kazan, Russia, to Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. It is organised by the Silk Way Rally Association. The race is part of the Russian Rally-Raid Championship. From 2009 to 2011, it was on the Amaury Sport Organisation, ASO's Dakar Series, followed by being a FIA World Cup for Cross-Country Rallies round. The Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO and also A.S.O.) is a private company, founded in 1992, that is part of the privately-owned French media group Éditions Philippe Amaury (EPA). Desert racing is the act of racing through the desert in a two- or four-wheeled off-road vehicle. The Budapest-Bamako or Great African Run is a charity car race in Europe and Africa, and the largest amateur rally in the world. It is a low-budget version of the Dakar Rally, and goes from Budapest, Hungary to Bamako, Mali through the Sahara.
