Provinces Of Denmark
The provinces of Denmark () are statistical divisions of Denmark, positioned between the administrative regions and municipalities. They are not administrative divisions, nor subject for any kind of political elections, but are mainly for statistical use. This is a list of the eleven Danish provinces and the regions they belong to. There are five regions (EU standard NUTS 2) and eleven provinces (EU standard NUTS 3). The provinces Copenhagen City and Copenhagen surroundings are largely build up areas, the same applies also for large parts of East Zealand and North Zealand. Although East Zealand (NUTS-3 level) belongs to healthcare Region Zealand (NUTS-2 level), in other respects (like public transport, road maintenance, metropolitan future planning, known as the Finger Plan in all versions since 1949, regional radio and television etc.) it belongs to the Metropolitan Area of Greater Copenhagen. Herlev Municipality
Herlev Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the northwestern suburbs of Copenhagen, Capital Region, Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 12 km², and has a total population of 30,784 (1. January 2025). Its mayor is Thomas Gyldal Petersen, a member of the Social Democrats (''Socialdemokraterne'') political party. The former village Herlev is the largest settlement of the municipal and the site of the municipal council. It is best known for being the site of Herlev Hospital. Halsnæs Municipality
Halsnæs Municipality () is a municipality (Danish language, Danish, ''Commune (subnational entity), kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark. The municipality covers a total area (land and water) of 122.15 km2 (2013), according to Municipal Key Figures (De Kommunale Nøgletal (www.noegletal.dk)), and has a total population of 31,633 (1. January 2025). The municipality also includes the island Hesselø. Up to 20 km2 of the total area is water, as part of the largest lake in Denmark, Arresø, lies within the municipality. Its name comes from ''Halsnæs'', the peninsula that forms the western part of the municipality. The municipality was created on 1 January 2007 as a merger of the former municipalities of Frederiksværk and Hundested. Gribskov Municipality () is a municipality (Danish language, Danish, ''Commune (subnational entity), kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark. The municipality covers an area of 278 km2, and has a total population of 41,797. The municipality was created on 1 January 2007 as a merger of the former municipalities of Græsted-Gilleleje and Helsinge (municipality), Helsinge. Frederikssund Municipality
Frederikssund Kommune () is a municipality () on the shores of Roskilde Fjord in the northern part of the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in eastern Denmark. On 1 January 2007, the municipality was enlarged to include the old Jægerspris, Slangerup, and Skibby municipalities. It now covers an area of 250 km2 and has a population of 47,052 (1. January 2025). As of 1 January 2014 its mayor is John Schmidt Andersen, a member of the agrarian liberal Venstre political party. The municipality covers an area of 112.13 km2 and has a total population of 42,186 (as of 1. January 2025). Vallensbæk Municipality
Vallensbæk Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish: '' kommune'') in the Capital Region of Denmark on Zealand. It is part of the Greater Copenhagen area and consist primarily of the suburb of Vallensbæk. It is one of the smallest municipalities in Denmark in terms of area. Vallensbæk Municipality borders the municipalities of Ishøj, Høje-Taastrup, Albertslund and Brøndby. Rødovre Municipality () is a municipality ( Danish, '' kommune'') in the Capital Region on the island of Zealand in eastern Denmark. Its mayor is Britt Jensen.
