M. Western, University of Bristol, http://pgopher.chm.bris.ac.uk) and molecular constants extracted from the literature. These constants include μ=3.551 Debye and others provided by Yamamoto et al. 1990, given in units of MHz: B=11189.052, D=0.0051365, ASO=432834.31, γ=-48.57, p=-7.0842, and q=-13.057. A selection rule of ΔJ=0,1 was applied, with S=0.5. The resulting simulation for the rotational spectrum of C3H at a temperature of 30 K agree well with observations. Molecular Clouds
A molecular cloud—sometimes called a stellar nursery if star formation is occurring within—is a type of interstellar cloud of which the density and size permit absorption nebulae, the formation of molecules (most commonly molecular hydrogen, H2), and the formation of H II regions. This is in contrast to other areas of the interstellar medium that contain predominantly ionized gas. Molecular hydrogen is difficult to detect by infrared and radio observations, so the molecule most often used to determine the presence of H2 is carbon monoxide (CO). The ratio between CO luminosity and H2 mass is thought to be constant, although there are reasons to doubt this assumption in observations of some other galaxies.
