Principality Of Fergana
The Principality of Fergana was a Timurid Empire, Timurid principality in Transoxiana (now Uzbekistan) based in the city of Fergana. The principality was ruled by Umar Shaikh Mirza II, and his sons, Babur and Jahangir Mirza II. The principality was established following the death of Abu Sa'id Mirza and the division of his empire among his sons. Umar Shaikh Mirza II, Umar Shaikh's line ruled the principality for more than three decades from 1469 to 1504. History Umar Shaikh Abu Sa'id Mirza had re-united the Timurid Empire with the help of the Uzbek chief Abu'l-Khayr Khan, following its first division in 1449. However, he was killed by the White Sheep Turkomen and the Timurid Empire was divided once again in 1469. Umar Shaikh received Fergana upon the division of the Timurid Empire in 1469. Fergana
Fergana ( uz-Latn-Cyrl, Fargʻona, Фарғона, ), () or Ferghana, also Farghana is a district-level city and the capital of Fergana Region in eastern Uzbekistan. Fergana is about 320 km east of Tashkent, about 75 km southwest of Andijan, and less than 20 km from the Kyrgyzstan border. The modern city was founded in 1876. History Fergana first appears in written records in the 5th-century. However, archeological evidence demonstrates that the city had been populated since the Chalcolithic period. Like many other Central Asian places in the sixth and seventh-centuries, Fergana was ruled by the Western Turkic Khaganate. Although it was still predominantly inhabited by eastern Iranians, many Turks had also started to settle there. The city of Fergana was refounded in 1876 as a garrison town and colonial appendage to Margilan ( to the northwest) by the Russian Empire. Abu Sa'id Mirza
Abu Sa'id Mirza ( Chagatay/; 14248 February 1469) was the ruler of the Timurid Empire during the mid-fifteenth century. Born a minor prince of the Timurid dynasty, Abu Sa'id quickly established himself as the most prominent among his warring relations. Over the course of two decades, he reunified much of the Timurid Empire, which had become fractured in the aftermath of the death of his great-uncle Shah Rukh. However, Abu Sa'id's hopes of restoring the empire to its former extent at the time of Timur ultimately failed after he was killed during an invasion of what is now western Iran. He was the paternal grandfather of Babur, who later founded the Mughal Empire of India.
