The Parliament of Malaysia (; Jawi script, Jawi: ) is the national legislature of Malaysia, based on the Westminster system. The bicameral parliament consists of the Dewan Rakyat (House of Representatives, Literal translation, lit. "People's Assembly") and the Dewan Negara (Senate, Literal translation, lit. "State Assembly"). The Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King), as the head of state, is the third component of Parliament. The Democratic Action Party (DAP; ) is a social democratic and secular political party in Malaysia, sitting on the centre-left of the political spectrum.
