Murder Of Aw Teck Boon
On 5 May 1999, 43-year-old seaman Aw Teck Boon (区德文 Ōu Déwén), alias Singapore Siao (新加坡笑 xīn jiā pō xiào), was found murdered at Geylang after drinking at a nearby coffee shop. Aw was infamously known to be a triad leader of Sio Kun Tong and had spent time in prison for his gangland activities. It was speculated that Aw was attacked and stabbed to death while he was sleeping at a Wushu association club, likely due to unsettled underworld conflicts. Although the police managed to identify a man named Chew Tse Meng (周志明 Zhōu Zhìmíng) as the prime suspect, Chew was never caught and is still at large despite extensive investigations and search efforts. A coroner's inquiry recorded a verdict of murder in 2002 after hearing the case of Aw's death. As of 2024, the murder of Aw Teck Boon remains unsolved, and the murderer(s) have not been found. Ah Kong
Ah Kong () was an organised crime and drugs syndicate that used to extensively control the European heroin trade in the 1970s to 1990s. Originating from Singapore, it was one of the world's largest drug syndicates, having been mainly based in Amsterdam, Netherlands, and Bangkok, Thailand, where they received their drug supplies. The production of heroin was at an area known as the Golden Triangle formed by Thailand, Laos and Myanmar. Ah Kong was not a triad but a fearsome organized crime gang that was renowned all over Asia and Europe. Lim Hock Soon
Tan Chor Jin (; 29 March 1966 – 9 January 2009), also known by his alias Tony Kia, was a Singaporean gang leader known for fatally shooting 41-year-old Lim Hock Soon, his former friend and nightclub owner, using a semi-automatic Beretta 0.22 calibre pistol on 15 February 2006. Tan, who had underworld affiliations and was a member of Ang Soon Tong since his early years, had also robbed the Lim family of their valuables before he escaped Singapore to Malaysia, where he was arrested ten days later. The media gave him the name "One-eyed Dragon" given that he was blind in the right eye. Subsequently, Tan was charged with the execution-style murder of Lim, though the charge was later amended to one of an unlawful discharge of a firearm with intent to cause hurt or death in Singapore.
