Ballygunner GAA
Ballygunner GAA (nicknamed "The Gunners") is a Gaelic Athletic Association (GAA) club located in the parish of St Mary's Ballygunner in Waterford City, Ireland. The are the current All-Ireland Senior Club Hurling Championship title holders. The club, which is exclusively concerned with hurling, is one of the most successful in Waterford. It has won 20 county titles and produced many great players for Waterford such as Paul Flynn, Fergal Hartley, Billy O'Sullivan and Pauric Mahony. Ballygunner has an intense rivalry with fellow city club Mount Sion and for many years in the 1990s and 2000s the two dominated the club scene. Since 1992, Ballygunner have won 17 county titles. The Munster Senior title was first won in 2001 with a victory over Cork side Blackrock (2-14 to 0-12). A second crown came in 2018, and a third in 2021–22. The Fairchild AT-21 was an American World War II specialized bomber crew trainer, intended to train crews in the use of power gun turrets or a gun on a flexible mount, as well as learn to function as a member of a crew. It had a brief career as a training aircraft before modified bombers took over this role. Design and development The United States Army Air Corps (USAAC) issued a specification for a specialized bomber trainer, ordering two prototypes from Fairchild Aircraft. The XAT-13 powered by two Pratt & Whitney R-1340-AN-1 radial engines, emerged as a "scaled down" bomber with a single machine gun in the glazed nose and a top turret with twin machine guns and fitted with tricycle landing gear. Chad Lail (born June 6, 1982) is an American professional wrestler. He is best known for his time in Impact Wrestling under the ring name Gunner. Early life Chad Lail was born on June 6, 1982, in Hickory, North Carolina. He served in the Iraq War with the United States Marine Corps as a machine gunner, and reached the rank of a sergeant. Gunner (born c. August 1941) was a male kelpie dog who became notable for his reliability to accurately alert Allied air force personnel that Japanese military aircraft were approaching Darwin during the Second World War. Biography The origins of the black and white male kelpie have never been ascertained. He appears to have been a six-month-old stray when was found on 19 February 1942, under the ruins of a mess hut at RAAF Darwin, following the first Japanese air raid on Darwin. Gunner (Gnr) is a rank equivalent to private in the British Army Royal Artillery and the artillery corps of other Commonwealth armies. The next highest rank is usually lance-bombardier, although in the Royal Canadian Artillery it is bombardier. Historically, there was an inferior rank, matross. Monuments There is a bronze statue of a gunner called "The Ammunition Carrier" as part of the Royal Artillery Memorial in Hyde Park Corner, commemorating the Royal Artillery Regiment's service and memorializing its losses in World War I. The other bronze figures are "The Captain" (at the front), "The Driver" (at the left side), and "The Fallen Soldier" (at the rear) and it is topped with an elevated stone howitzer.
