Filth (Swans Album)
''Filth'' is the debut studio album by American experimental rock band Swans. It was released in 1983 through Neutral Records, following the release of the band's self-titled debut EP in 1982. Though it did not receive much contemporary attention, ''Filth'' has since been recognized as ahead of its time and significant to heavy genres of music. Musically, the album is bleak, grinding, and deliberately repetitive, defined by two bassists persistently doubling over the same chord. The two drummers, Jonathan Kane and Roli Mosimann, play chaotically and angularly, occasionally mixing in percussion from metal straps striking tables, and the distorted guitar of Norman Westberg plays in a grating fashion. The vocals of Swans frontman Michael Gira are scathing and direct, covering topics of social decay, corruption, rape, and abuse of power. Background After the release of Swans' 1982 debut EP, frontman Michael Gira and drummer Jonathan Kane were the only members to remain in the band. ...

Publication history ''The Filth'' was Grant Morrison's second major creator-owned series for Vertigo after ''The Invisibles''. Initially starting as a Nick Fury proposal for Marvel Comics, Morrison adapted it as a 13-part series for Vertigo. The title refers both to the police (in British slang) and to pornography (in which Morrison "immersed" themselves while "researching" the series). Morrison has said that the series is their favorite among their works. Plot The series tells the story of Greg Feely, a bachelor whose main interests are his cat and masturbating to pornography. Filth (Maranatha Album)
''Filth'' is the debut album of the sludge metal band, Maranatha. The album was released on July 24, 2015 via New American Records. Critical reception "Between the earth-shaking riffs, canyon-wide grooves and the brutally honest lyrical content, ''Filth'' makes for an extremely heavy listen. The contrasting personal beliefs of ollinSimula and ackHuston give Maranatha a unique and unfiltered perspective regarding spirituality, and as the record's name indicates, ''Filth'' is really all about the filthy side of this world we live in. It's a vitriolic call to arms, a rage-filled rally to fix this broken world, and an honest representation of our own broken humanity." writes Aaron Lambert. Jeremiah Nelson reports "''Filth'' is as heavy as they come. Monstrous riffs combine with angry hardcore and intimate, bloody lyrics. The band that started as a one-man emotional outlet is growing into a fearsome beast. Maranatha is releasing ''Filth'' on New American Records on July 24. You can pr ...

''Filth'' is a 1998 novel in Scotland, novel by Scottish writer Irvine Welsh. A sequel, ''Crime (novel), Crime'', was published in 2008. It was adapted into Filth (film), a 2013 film of the same name, directed by Jon S. Baird with James McAvoy in the lead role. Plot summary Bruce Robertson is a detective sergeant serving in Edinburgh's "Lothian and Borders Police, Lothian Constabulary". Robertson is a Machiavellian, intensely misanthropic man who spends his time indulging in cocaine and alcohol abuse, sexual abuse, sexually abusive relationships, compulsive gorging on junk food, and, most of all, his penchant for "the games" – Bruce's euphemism for the myriad foul plots he hatches directed at workmates. He is able to pander to all of his vices during his annual holidays in Amsterdam. The novel begins by introducing the murder of Efan Wurie, a case Bruce has been assigned. The plot has little to do with the actual crime; instead, the novel traces Bruce throughout his life, to ...

Cardiacs
Cardiacs are an English rock band formed in Kingston upon Thames by Tim Smith (lead guitar and vocals) and his brother Jim (bass, backing vocals) in 1977 under the name Cardiac Arrest. The band's sound fused circus, baroque pop and medieval music with progressive rock and post-punk, adding other elements like nursery rhymes and sea shanties. Tim Smith was the primary lyricist, noted for his complex and innovative compositional style. He and his brother were the only constant members in the band's regularly changing lineup. The band created their own indie label, the Alphabet Business Concern, in 1984 and found mainstream exposure with the single " Is This the Life?" from their debut album ''A Little Man and a House and the Whole World Window'' (1988). Their second album, ''On Land and in the Sea'' (1989), was followed by ''Heaven Born and Ever Bright'' (1992), which displayed a harder edged, metal-leaning sound retained in the subsequent albums '' Sing to God'' (1996) and '' ...
