Festination
Parkinsonian gait (or festinating gait, from Latin ''festinare'' o hurry is the type of gait exhibited by patients with Parkinson's disease (PD). It is often described by people with Parkinson's as feeling like being stuck in place, when initiating a step or turning, and can increase the risk of falling. This disorder is caused by a deficiency of dopamine in the basal ganglia circuit leading to motor system, motor deficits. Gait is one of the most affected motor characteristics of this disorder although signs and symptoms of Parkinson's disease, symptoms of Parkinson's disease are varied. Parkinsonian gait is characterized by small shuffling walking, steps and a general slowness of movement (hypokinesia), or even the total loss of movement (akinesia) in extreme cases. Patients with PD demonstrate reduced Gait, stride length, walking speed during free ambulation and cadence (gait), cadence rate, while double support duration is increased. Parkinson's Disease
Parkinson's disease (PD), or simply Parkinson's, is a neurodegenerative disease primarily of the central nervous system, affecting both motor system, motor and non-motor systems. Symptoms typically develop gradually and non-motor issues become more prevalent as the disease progresses. The motor symptoms are collectively called parkinsonism and include tremors, bradykinesia, spasticity, rigidity as well as postural instability (i.e., difficulty maintaining balance). Non-motor symptoms develop later in the disease and include behavior change (individual), behavioral changes or mental disorder, neuropsychiatric problems such as sleep abnormalities, psychosis, anosmia, and mood swings. Most Parkinson's disease cases are idiopathic disease, idiopathic, though contributing factors have been identified.
