Elmore Railway Station
Elmore railway station is located on the Deniliquin line in Victoria, Australia, and serves the town of the same name. The station opened on 19 September 1864 as Runnymede, but was renamed Elmore on 1 November 1876. History Elmore was opened along with the line to Echuca. The station, like the township itself, was named after the Elmore Estate, which was part of the Burnewang pastoral run. The name was possibly inspired by the English town of Elmore, Gloucestershire. In 1916, a 70 ft. turntable was provided at the station. The siding leading to the turntable was abolished in 1957. In 1976, the siding leading to the dock platform was abolished. The station was the junction for the branch line to Cohuna, which was opened on 10 November 1915. The last section of the branch was closed in 1987, and the connection to it had been removed by July 1988. Elmore is a town in Lamoille County, Vermont, United States. It was granted by the Vermont Republic in 1780, and was named for Colonel Samuel Elmore (1720–1805), one of the original grantees. The population was 886 at the 2020 census. Elmore contains the villages of East Elmore and Lake Elmore, as well as Elmore State Park, a recreational area on the Lake Elmore and on Elmore Mountain to the west. Geography Elmore is in southeastern Lamoille County, bordered to the south and east by Washington County. A small portion of the town border on the east is with Caledonia County. According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of , of which are land and , or 1.38%, are water. Elmore is a village in Ottawa and Sandusky counties in the U.S. state of Ohio. The population was 1,370 at the 2020 census. The Ottawa County portion of Elmore is part of the Toledo Metropolitan Statistical Area, while the Sandusky County portion is part of the Fremont Micropolitan Statistical Area. History Elmore is located in what used to be known as the Black Swamp, a sprawling area of marsh that covered the majority of northwest Ohio, and was primarily inhabited by Native Americans until the 19th century. Elmore City is a town in Garvin County, Oklahoma, United States. This town is south of Oklahoma City. The population was 738 at the time of the 2020 census, up from 697 at the 2010 census. It was named after J. O. Elmore. There are two main highways running through Elmore City. One of the Highways is Oklahoma State Highway 29, running west–east. Elmore Manufacturing Company was a manufacturer of veteran and brass era automobiles and bicycles (1893–97), headquartered at 504 Amanda Street, Clyde, Ohio, from 1893 until 1912. The company took its name from a small parcel of land in Clyde with the name Elmore associated with it where a stave mill was established originally, then evolved into bicycle production. The village of Elmore, Ohio is located to the east. Founded by Harmon Von Vechten Becker and his two sons, James and Burton, the Elmore used a two-stroke engine design, in straight twin or single-cylinder versions.
