Dobos Torte
Dobos torte ( ), also known as Dobosh, is a Hungarian sponge cake layered with chocolate buttercream and topped with caramel. The layered pastry is named after its inventor, Hungarian chef , a delicatessen owner in Budapest. In the late 1800s, he decided to create a cake that would last longer than other pastries in an age when cooling techniques were limited. The round sides of the cake are coated with ground hazelnuts, chestnuts, walnuts, or almonds, and the hardened caramel top helps to prevent drying out, for a longer shelf life. Café Gerbeaud
Café Gerbeaud, situated at Vörösmarty tér 7 in Budapest, the capital of Hungary, is a traditional coffeehouse opened in 1858. It was built in Gründerzeit style. In 2009 Café Gerbeaud opened its second confectionery in Tokyo, Japan. History The company was started in 1858 by Henrik Kugler, the third child of a confectionery dynasty. He acquired his knowledge and experience mostly during his journeymanship in eleven European capitals including Paris. After that, he opened a confectionery at József nádor Square which was soon considered one of the best in Pest. Among the specialties were Chinese and Russian teas as well as his ice creations which were soon named "the best ice in Pest". In order to be closer to the city center, Kugler in 1870 moved the store to Vörösmarty tér, called "Gizella Square" at the time, on the ground floor of the head office of Hungarian Commercial Bank of Pest. Franz Joseph I or Francis Joseph I ( ; ; 18 August 1830 – 21 November 1916) was Emperor of Austria, King of Hungary, and the ruler of the other states of the Habsburg monarchy from 1848 until his death in 1916. Lapis legit, also known as spekkoek (; or ), is a type of Kue, Indonesian layer cake. It was developed during Dutch Empire, colonial times in the Dutch East Indies. The firm-textured cake is an Indo people, Indo (Dutch-Indonesian) version of the multi-layered rice cakes that are usually seen in Southeast Asian desserts but using some Dutch ingredients like flour and butter. It contains a mix of Indonesian spices, such as cardamom, cinnamon, clove, mace (spice), mace and anise. The cake is made of flour and yolk and is rich in butter or margarine. Smith Island is a collection of three distinct island communities – Tylerton, Rhodes Point, and Ewell, Maryland – on the Chesapeake Bay, on the border of Maryland and Virginia territorial waters in the United States. Prinzregententorte () is a Bavarian torte consisting of at least six, usually seven, thin layers of sponge cake interlaid with chocolate buttercream. The exterior is covered in a dark chocolate glaze. Prinzregententorte is very popular in Bavaria, Germany, and available in cake shops all year round. Opera cake () is a French cake. It is made with layers of almond sponge cake (known as ' in French) soaked in coffee syrup, layered with ganache and coffee (or Grand Marnier) French buttercream, and covered in a chocolate glaze. Dobash cake (or Dobosh), is a layered chocolate cake filled and topped with a chocolate pudding-like frosting originating in Hawaii, adapted by local baker Robert Taira from the Hungarian Dobos torte.
