Daniel White (born 1990) is an American YouTuber who specializes in demonstrating and documenting computer viruses and other forms of malware on his YouTube channel danooct1. Since 2008, he has demonstrated hundreds of pieces of malware—mostly DOS viruses from the 1980s and 1990s—on his YouTube channel, which has amassed a loyal following and tens of millions of total video views. Channel In his videos, White demonstrates malware on both virtual machines and actual period-correct hardware. White first became interested in computer viruses in 2004, after his desktop computer was infected with Sasser, a worm which reportedly affected up to one million computer systems running Windows XP and Windows 2000 in the early 2000s. MEMZ is a trojan horse created for Microsoft Windows. The name of the malware refers to its purpose as a humorous Trojan intended to replicate the effects of early computer viruses. Origin MEMZ was originally created by Leurak for YouTuber danooct1's ''Viewer-Made Malware'' series. Leurak was a schooler when the Trojan was created. It was later featured by Joel Johansson, alias Vargskelethor, a member of the livestreaming group Vinesauce on his series ''Windows Destruction.'' Here, he demonstrated the trojan in action against a Windows 10 virtual machine after being provided with a copy by danooct1. Petya (malware Family)
Petya is a family of encrypting malware that was first discovered in 2016. The malware targets Microsoft Windows–based systems, infecting the master boot record to execute a payload that encrypts a hard drive's file system table and prevents Windows from booting. It subsequently demands that the users make a payment in Bitcoin in order to regain access to the system. Variants of Petya were first seen in March 2016, which propagated via infected e-mail attachments. In June 2017, a new variant of Petya was used for a global cyberattack, primarily targeting Ukraine. The new variant propagates via the EternalBlue exploit, which is generally believed to have been developed by the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), and was used earlier in the year by the WannaCry ransomware.
