Kathleen Appler
Kathleen Mary Appler D.C (23 February 1952 – 18 March 2020) was an American Roman Catholic nun and member of the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul. She was one of the first seven women appointed members of the Congregation for Institutes of Consecrated Life and Societies of Apostolic Life, the second highest-ranking department of the Roman Curia, the administrative institution of the Holy See. She was appointed on 8 July 2019 by Pope Francis. Kathleen Appler was from Utica, New York and joined the Daughters of Charity in April 1973 in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked in schools for many years and became Sister Servant of St John's Parish Centre in Brooklyn. She spent 47 years as a nun, and in 2009 she was elected as General Counsellor. Barton Appler Bean
Barton Appler Bean (May 21, 1860, in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania – June 16, 1947, in Chemung, New York) was an American ichthyologist. He was the brother of the ichthyologist Tarleton Hoffman Bean (1846–1916). He obtained a job at the National Museum of Natural History in Washington in 1881, where he worked for his brother. Barton became assistant in 1886 and assistant curator of the Division of Fishes in 1890. He retained this position until his retirement in 1932. Johann Appler
Johann Paulus Appler (13 June 1892 – 21 December 1978) was a German soldier, civil servant and Nazi Party politician who served as a '' Reichstag'' deputy and the mayor of Gunzenhausen. He escaped from Germany after the end of the Second World War, but returned, was put on trial and briefly incarcerated. Youth and military service Born at Obernzenn in 1892, Appler attended the elementary and advanced training school at in Middle Franconia from 1898 to 1912. After graduating, he joined the Royal Bavarian 10th Infantry Regiment "King Ludwig" of the Bavarian Army and fought in the First World War from August 1914 to 1918, where he served as a '' Zugführer'' (platoon leader). He was seriously wounded in September 1914 and was awarded the Iron Cross, 2nd class, the Bavarian Military Merit Cross, 2nd class with swords and the Wound Badge.
