Al Akhbar (Lebanon)
''Al Akhbar'' (; ) is a daily Arabic language newspaper published in a semi tabloid format in Beirut. The newspaper's writers have included Ibrahim Al Amine, As'ad AbuKhalil, Amal Saad-Ghorayeb, Sharmine Narwani, Pierre Abi Saab, and Amer Mohsen. Until 2015, it also had an English version published on the Internet. It is pro-Hezbollah and in general opposes Saudi Arabia, the United States, the Future Movement, and the March 14 Alliance. History and profile The newspaper began to be published and distributed in 2006, and is registered with the same license of the paper of the same name, established in 1953, owned by ''Akhbar Beirut'' S.A.L. Akhbari
Akhbarism () is a branch of Twelver Shia Islam, whose adherents do not perform imitation ( ''taqlid'') of an islamic jurist ( ''marja''). Akhbaris rejects the use of intercessory reasoning via trained Islamic jurists to derive verdicts in Islamic law, maintaining it is forbidden ('' haram'') to perform imitation of anyone but one of the Fourteen Infallibles of Twelver Islam. The term Akhbari comes from ''khabara'at'', news or reports, while Usuli comes from ''Uṣūl al-fiqh'', principles of Islamic jurisprudence. Akhbaris, unlike Usulis, do not accept '' Usul al-fiqh''—i.e. the attempt to draw up a coherent set of legal principles based on rulings made by the Imams prior to the Occultation (''ghayba'') of the last Imam. ''Al-Akhbar'' (; ''The News'' in English) is an Arabic daily newspaper based in Egypt. It is a state-owned semi-official newspaper. History and profile ''Al-Akhbar'' was first published in May 1952 as a part of '' Akhbar el-Yom''. The founders were the Amin brothers, Ali and Mustafa Amin. The publisher is Dar Akhbar El Yom. The paper is headquartered in Cairo. Egyptian novelist Gamal el-Ghitani is one of the former contributors and editors-in-chief of the daily. He was appointed to the post in 1985. Another prominent Egyptian author Anis Mansour was also the editor-in-chief of the daily. In January 2011 Mohamed Barakat was appointed editor-in-chief, replacing Mohamed Mahdy Fadly in the post. ''Akhbar Al Adab'' (; ''Cultural News'' in English) is an Arabic weekly literary magazine which is published by state-run Akhbar Al Yawm publishing house. History and profile ''Akhbar Al Adab'' was established by Gamal Al-Ghitani in 1993 as a platform for Egyptian and Arab literary production. Since then it has been published by Akhbar Al Yawm publishing house on Sundays. The company also publishes '' Al Akhbar'' newspaper. The headquarters is in Cairo.
