Akhbar El-Yom
''Akhbar el-Yom'' (, ) is an Arabic language government weekly newspaper published in Egypt. History and profile ''Akhbar el-Yom'' was founded by the Amin brothers, Mustafa Amin and Ali Amin, on 6 November 1944. The paper is released weekly on Saturdays. The newspaper is owned by the Shura Council and considered a semi-official newspaper. It has a daily edition called '' al-Akhbar'', which was also established by the Amin brothers. Mustafa Amin
Mustafa Amin (; 21 February 1914 – 13 April 1997) was an Egyptian columnist and journalist who enjoyed a great deal of popularity in the Arab world. Known for his liberal perspective, Mustafa Amin and his twin brother Ali Amin are regarded as the fathers of modern Arab journalism. Biography Mustafa Amin and his twin brother Ali Amin were born in Cairo, where their father was a lawyer. They spent their childhood at the house of their great-uncle Saad Zaghloul, a prominent lawyer and politician, who founded the liberal nationalist Wafd Party (Delegation Party), and served as Prime Minister of Egypt in 1922. Amin was educated at the American University in Cairo and at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. Mustafa Amin made magazines for his family, neighbours, and schools since early childhood, and began reporting for the Cairo newspapers and magazines in 1928. ''Al-Akhbar'' (; ''The News'' in English) is an Arabic daily newspaper based in Egypt. It is a state-owned semi-official newspaper. History and profile ''Al-Akhbar'' was first published in May 1952 as a part of ''Akhbar el-Yom''. The founders were the Amin brothers, Ali and Mustafa Amin. The publisher is Dar Akhbar El Yom. The paper is headquartered in Cairo. Egyptian novelist Gamal el-Ghitani is one of the former contributors and editors-in-chief of the daily. He was appointed to the post in 1985.
