''Hitman Hart: Wrestling with Shadows'' is a 1998 Canadian documentary film directed, produced and written by Paul Jay. It follows Bret "The Hitman" Hart during his last year in the WWF, from his World Wrestling Federation Championship victory at SummerSlam to his final match with the company and the infamous Montreal Screwjob at the pay-per-view Survivor Series on November 9, 1997. Bret Hart
Bret Hart (born July 2, 1957) is a Canadian-American retired professional wrestler, currently signed to WWE under a legend's contract. A member of the Hart wrestling family and a second-generation wrestler, he has an amateur wrestling background, wrestling at Ernest Manning High School and Mount Royal College. A major international draw within professional wrestling, he has been credited with changing the perception of mainstream North-American professional wrestling in the early 1990s by bringing technical in-ring performance to the fore. The Montreal Screwjob (also called the Montreal Incident; French: ''Le Coup Tordu de Montréal'' lit. Montreal's Twisted Coup) was an infamous unscripted professional wrestling incident that occurred on November 9, 1997, at the Survivor Series pay-per-view at the Molson Centre. Vince McMahon (World Wrestling Federation owner) and his employees covertly manipulated the outcome of the match between Bret Hart, the reigning WWF Champion, and Shawn Michaels. The manipulation – a "shoot screwjob" in professional wrestling parlance – occurred without Hart's knowledge and as a result he lost the title to Michaels in his last WWF match before departing for rival promotion World Championship Wrestling (WCW). Sharpshooter (professional Wrestling)
The sharpshooter, originally named sasori-gatame, scorpion hold in English, is a professional wrestling submission hold. It is similar to several other holds: cloverleaf leg-lace, Boston crab, standing reverse figure-four leglock. It is also known by several alternative names, the most common being Scorpion Death-Lock. The move was invented by Japanese professional wrestler Riki Choshu, and was popularized by Sting, who mostly does the standing variation rather than the sitting variation. However, it is most widely associated with Bret "Hitman" Hart, who used it extensively in his WWF career, and who dubbed it the Sharpshooter. The hold begins with the opponent supine on the mat. Earl Hebner
Earl William Hebner (born May 17, 1949) is an American retired professional wrestling referee who last officiated for All Elite Wrestling (AEW). He is best known for his time as senior referee for the World Wrestling Federation (now WWE) from 1988 to 2005. Hebner (along with his identical twin brother, Dave) played a prominent role in the inaugural ''The Main Event'' card in 1988, in which André the Giant controversially defeated Hulk Hogan for the WWF World Heavyweight Championship, as well as the infamous " Montreal Screwjob" during the main event of the 1997 Survivor Series. The Monday Night Wars or Monday Night War was an era of mainstream televised American professional wrestling, from September 4, 1995 to March 26, 2001, in which the World Wrestling Federation's (WWF, now WWE) '' Monday Night Raw'' (later ''Raw Is War'') and World Championship Wrestling's (WCW) '' Monday Nitro'' were broadcast opposite each other in a battle for Nielsen ratings each week.
