West Coast Fever
West Coast Fever is a professional Australian netball team based in Perth, Western Australia. Since 2017 they have played in Super Netball. Between 2008 and 2016, they competed in the ANZ Championship. Between 1997 and 2007, as Perth Orioles, they competed in the Commonwealth Bank Trophy league. During the ANZ Championship era, Fever were the only Australian team not to win a title, play in a grand final or feature in a finals series. However, during the Super Netball era they emerged as challengers. They were grand finalists in both 2018 and 2020, and eventually claimed their first premiership in 2022. 2009 ANZ Championship Season
The 2009 ANZ Championship season was the second season of the ANZ Championship. The 2009 season began on 4 April and concluded on 26 July. Melbourne Vixens were minor premiers. With a team co-captained by Bianca Chatfield and Sharelle McMahon, Vixens subsequently defeated Waikato Bay of Plenty Magic 58–43 in the major semi-final and Adelaide Thunderbirds 54–46 in the grand final to finish as overall List of Australian netball premiers, premiers. Sunshine Coast Lightning are a professional Australian netball team based at the University of the Sunshine Coast. The team was formed in 2016 as a joint venture between the university and Melbourne Storm. Since 2017 they have played in Suncorp Super Netball. Lightning have played in three grand finals, winning premierships in 2017 and 2018. The Suncorp Super Netball Young Star Award, also referred to as SSN Rookie of the Year or Rising Star, is an annual Suncorp Super Netball award in Australia. It is an award recognising the outstanding on-court achievements of a Suncorp Super Netball athlete. Previously to 2022, to be eligible for the award the netballer had to be aged under 23 years at the beginning of the season. The Suncorp Super Netball Player of the Year Award is an annual Suncorp Super Netball award recognising the person considered to be the best netballer in each season of the competition. The current holder of the award is Jhaniele Fowler, who is currently the only player in the league to have won the award on more than occasion. Jhaniele Fowler
Jhaniele Fowler-Nembhard (formerly known as Jhaniele Fowler-Reid or Jhaniele Fowler; born 21 July 1989) is a professional Jamaican netball player who plays for the West Coast Fever in the Suncorp Super Netball League. Fowler-Nembhard is a 5-time Suncorp Super Netball Player of the Year and was named Netball Scoop's World's Best Netballer in 2021. Domestic Career Fowler-Nembhard played domestic netball in Jamaica for the Waulgrovians club. In 2011, Fowler-Nembhard was signed to play in the Australasian ANZ Championship with Australian team, the Adelaide Thunderbirds, on a two-year contract. Stacey Marinkovich (born 25 February 1981), previously known as Stacey Rosman, is a former netball in Australia, Australian netball player and current List of netball coaches in Australia, netball coach. During the Commonwealth Bank Trophy era she played for Queensland Firebirds and Perth Orioles. In the ANZ Championship era she played for West Coast Fever. She captained both Orioles and Fever. After retiring as a player, Rosman became a coach. In 2014 she was appointed head coach of West Coast Fever. In 2018 Suncorp Super Netball season, 2018 she guided Fever to their first ever grand final. She was subsequently named Joyce Brown Coach of the Year. With a team captained by Natalie von Bertouch and featuring Erin Bell, Carla Borrego, Renae Hallinan, Rebecca Bulley and Sharni Layton, the Adelaide Thunderbirds won both the minor premiership and the overall championship. Having previously won the 2010 ANZ Championship, the Thunderbirds became the first team to win a second championship.
