Shroud
Shroud usually refers to an item, such as a cloth, that covers or protects some other object. The term is most often used in reference to ''burial sheets'', mound shroud, grave clothes, winding-cloths or winding-sheets, such as the Jewish '' tachrichim'' or Muslim ''kaffan'', that the body is wrapped in for burial. A famous example of this is the Shroud of Turin. A traditional Jewish shroud consists of a tunic; a hood; pants that are extra-long and sewn shut at the bottom, so that separate foot coverings are not required; and a belt, which is tied in a knot shaped like the Hebrew letter ''shin'', mnemonic of one of God's names, Shaddai. Shroud Of Turin
The Shroud of Turin (), also known as the Holy Shroud (), is a length of linen cloth that bears a faint image of the front and back of a naked man. Because details of the image are consistent with depiction of Jesus, traditional depictions of Jesus of Nazareth after Crucifixion of Jesus, his death by crucifixion, the shroud has been venerated for centuries, especially by members of the Catholic Church, as Jesus, Jesus's Shroud, burial shroud upon which his image was Miracle, miraculously imprinted. The human image on the shroud can be discerned more clearly in a black and white Negative (photography), photographic negative than in its natural Sepia (color), sepia color, an effect discovered in 1898 by Secondo Pia, who produced the first photographs of the shroud. This negative image is associated with a popular Catholic devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus. The documented history of the shroud dates back to 1354, when it began to be exhibited in the new collegiate church of Lir ...

Shroud (comics)
The Shroud (Maximillian Quincy Coleridge) is a fictional superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. Publication history The Shroud first appeared in '' Super-Villain Team-Up'' #5 (April 1976) and was created by Steve Englehart and Herb Trimpe. Englehart has acknowledged that the character was intended as a "mashup" of DC Comics' Batman and The Shadow. "As a Marvel writer, I thought I'd never get to write the Batman, so I took some Bat-traits and mixed them with some Shadow-traits so as not to get sued and made my own homage to those dark night characters." Fictional character biography At the age of 10, Maximillian Coleridge saw his parents gunned down right before his eyes. He decided to dedicate his life to fighting crime. Upon graduation from college, he joined the mysterious temple called the "Cult of Kali", where he studied various styles of martial arts. After seven years of intense training, he graduated from that temple. During the celebra ...
